14th Semimar of the international Association for Tibetan Studies


 

 

Very successful 14th seminar of the International Association of Tibetan Studies.

The seminar took place at the University of Bergen over six days from 19 to 25 June 2016. There were over 500 academic participants at a high level from Europe, North America and Asia (with Tibetan delegates from both Tibet and outside Tibet). All seminar participants were satisfied with the seminar. After the daily seminars there were activities at night by boat sightseeing, guided tour and the last day had Bergen Mayor invited large reception with welcoming speech and food.

The 6th seminar was held in Fagernes in Norway in 1992. At the time, many older reseachers, but this time most of them from the younger generations.

The 21 June had the Tibetan community in Norway invited Tibetan evening with welcome drink and food. The hall was full and the evening program was introduced by Tenzin Alex, Sangmo Thargyal and Rini Tamdrin. Tibetan artist living in the UK, Ngawang Lodup under held with dramnyen and mandong, Thupten Tenzin held a slide show about how the first Tibetans arrived in Norway followed by dance performed by the Tibetan community in Norway dance group.
